I road tripped to Bahrain with a few friends a couple of days ago to check out GulfRun 5. We ended up missing the first day and barely saw anything the second day because we arrived late, and by the time I set up to shoot everything was ending. Drag racing was on the third day (last) and we managed to get a glimpse of that but more than half the cars didn’t participate in it so I guess we ended up missing most of the GulfRun experience. Besides running into some police problems because Abdullah’s GulfRun car had no front license plate (long story that ended us up in Bahrain’s ministry of interior) it was a great weekend in Bahrain. Here are the few photos I managed to snap.

We had this quick off topic discussion in Investments class, and our professor was showing the correlation of music to the New York Stock Exchange overall stocks index during a Bull Market (increasing investor confidence and increased investing in anticipation of future positive prices) vs a Bear Market (general decline in the stock market over a period of time). I thought this was quite interesting because during a Bull Market, main stream music was all jolly and happy. Oppositely, during a Bear Market, main stream music was all aggressive and negative. Check the video out and you’ll see what I’m talking about.
P.S British Invasion and The Beatles rock!
And if you’re into fashion, here’s another part:

The beginning of the song isn’t quite Ma9ri but wait just a little bit and you’ll hear what I’m talking about.
If you’re one of those people who loves to read about politics and awareness then you’re going to love what the people at en.v. en.v is made up of a group of intellectuals who really want to get their messages out there. It’s not your average magazine where you’re told what the new black is or what Brad and Angelina did yesterday.
When you read en.v you’ll feel a little more intellectual. Catching my drift? Yes, it is a quarterly magazine set out to spread awareness and knowledge in the Middle East. They talk about industries, black markets, Chinese keffiehs and even about the thing we live off in Kuwait; The Wasta. Hence their catch phrase, “Raising awareness for social responsibilty in the Arab world”.
This is truly one magazine we’ve been waiting years for. And you can get your hands on one or two of their magazines at your nearest Sultan Center (I don’t know if they sell it anywhere else) and it’s worth the trip. Or you can check out their eMagazine on their website.
Turns out, not only the devil wears Prada but so does the Pope. Yes, you heard right or should I say read right. Either way, you know what I mean.
Those lovely red loafers the Pope has on his feet are Pradas! Looks like even the humble Pope has a thing for designer wear.
A few days back I bought something; although, I can’t really remember what I bought or where I was buying what I bought. Well anyway, I bought something with some cash moneys I had in my wallet and I got a few dollar singles back in change. As usual when one receives change from the cashier he/she puts the change back in the wallet/purse neatly folded and that’s exactly what I did.
A couple of days later I was buying me some Americano (fancy black coffee) and I pulled out the singles I got a couple of days back. As I was handing the cashier the money I owed I noticed something awkward on my dolla dolla bill yo! I saw the stamps that read “www.wheresgeorge.com” on the edges of the bill and a red circular stamp which read, “Track this bill — www.wheresgeorge.com” I was like, “wooow, what is that?” I took the bills back and pulled out my BofA card and gave it to the gentleman at the till to swipe.
I then took my coffee and walked to the nearest computer and as soon as I logged in, I clicked Chrome and decided to pay www.wheresgeorge.com a little visit. And the website was what I expected it to be; what you do on this website is just input the serial number on the stamped bill along with the zip code of the area where you got the note from. Then click the submit button. Then badabing badabong you are shown where the bill was last used or whatever and it tells you how many days have passed since the last transaction made involving the stamped note.
The three VW cars that were always candidates of the GmbH Performance Division were the Golf, the Jetta and the Passat. For 2011, Gmbh decided to scratch out the Passat for the time being and include the new VW Scirocco. All cars will have a 266 horsepower engine and all wheel drive, but it is still not confirmed if they are going to have a four cylinder turbo charged engine or the traditional six cylinder naturally aspirated. I really enjoy the quick response and torque of the six cylinder naturally aspirated engine on the 2007 Golf R32, but I’d rather have a four cylinder turbo because the turbo and engine components could be easily modified or even replaced to pump more power. But with the six cylinder, it is very difficult to add turbo components because of the minimal space under the hood. Personally, I would pick the Scirocco R for the track. Because of its light weight and small size, the car could be easily maneuvered around the turns and corners. But for a daily use car, the Golf R would definitely be the right choice.

A couple of days ago, I was following this Google Doodle (Google logo design) story on Frankom‘s blog. What happened was Google posted the Kuwait Independence Day Doodle a month too early thinking it was January 25. For their honest mistake, Google released this formal apology letter to the users of google.com.kw. With Google’s positive thinking, the apology letter included that Kuwait is the only country to ever have two Doodles for their national day in the same year. How special!
For some reason, I felt like listening to a bit of 90s music today! It all started with a YouTube “Related Video” of the Michael Jackson. Here are a couple of songs that really bring memories from back then.
Gettin’ Jiggy With It – Will Smith (1998):
Wonderwall – Oasis (1995):
